What we do
WAA has substantial expertise in providing tailored architectural design services to Clients in line with the professional standards defined by the Royal Institute of British Architects from feasibility to completion. As an experienced Practice, we are committed to design excellence and quality Client service.
Practice projects are defined by location, budget, functionality and environmental sustainability across a broad range of building typologies and are delivered with the benefit of our wide and long established experience.
We have a long history of providing pre-planning liaison, application preparation, Local Authority submission and validation for both Planning and Building Regulations based on a team approach with well established and constructive dialogue leading to successful outcomes for our Clients.
Our primary goal is to produce buildings which match our Clients immediate and future needs, anticipated expenditure profiles and design standards expectations.
WAA services include construction phase management covering initial budget costing, main contractor selection, competitive tendering procedures, contract selection and successful integration of other support specialists into the design process. In addition, construction and on-site programming and inspection management during site construction operations through to completion and handover can be provided together with further post completion appraisals and User feedback.
Our existing successful team leader experience coordinates professional specialist input into projects delivering effective engineering skills in Structural Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical design including Home technology networks and construction specialist skills in site Surveying analysis, Quantity Surveying, Landscape design, Ecology reporting, Acoustics, Energy conservation, and Highways and Planning legislation.
Health & Safety services
In addition to providing designer risk assessments, WAA can provide Health and Safety services included within the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) for Principal Designer duties as additional services to our main Architecture role.
Successful interiors require skilful blending of textures, colours, lighting, finishes and fittings within the framework of the spaces created and in harmony with the architectural language of the building. WAA provide a full range of interior design services including Client briefing, product sampling, design presentations and visualisation, project specification and on-site inspection through to handover.
The Practice has an existing track record of sustainable, energy efficient, low carbon designs which respond to the Codes for Sustainable Homes standards and Passive House design principles. At a commercial level, projects have been delivered to a BREEAM Excellent standard meeting both Client and End User sustainable requirements. We believe that future energy provision will continue to drive standards requiring new and improved design approaches to construction techniques.
WAA are currently carrying out a prototype development of innovative, low energy homes with University partnering forming a vital and important element within the Practice leading to new affordable design solutions to thermal engineering, recyclability and building form. This research experience reinforces the Practice expertise in low energy solutions and provides new ideas which influence the overall design approach for our Client future projects.
WAA services include complementary skills to aid feasibility planning, design development, group communication and presentation opportunities in the form of modelling, visualisations and 3D printing.
